Kishoreganj:Caesarean operations will be performed free of charge every Tuesday at Pakundia Upazila Health Complex in Kishoreganj, following the resumption of the service today after a suspension of more than two years.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a pregnant woman underwent a successful caesarean operation at the health complex today, giving birth to a baby girl. Both the mother and the newborn are in good health.
Dr. Mushfiqur Rahman Rajib, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, reported that the operation was performed on Liza, a 30-year-old from the Chandipasha area of the upazila. Additionally, a dilation and curettage (D and C) operation was also successfully conducted at the hospital today.
Dr. Rajib noted that normal delivery services are available at the health complex every day, while caesarean operations will be conducted every Tuesday. He encouraged pregnant women and their families to seek medical assistance at the health complex for childbirth-related complications and urged local residents to support the continuation of caesarean and other surgical services at the facility.
Hospital sources revealed that the surgical services resumed following a special initiative by Kishoreganj-2 (Katiadi-Pakundia) constituency lawmaker Advocate Md Jalal Uddin. The resumption of the service has opened up an opportunity for expectant mothers in the area to receive surgical delivery services at a government hospital without any cost. Local residents expressed hope that the weekly free caesarean service would particularly benefit underprivileged families.
