St John's:Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir has urged the Commonwealth to take renewed action in strengthening climate resilience and supporting the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Rohingyas to Myanmar. Kobir made these remarks while addressing the retreat session of the Pre-CHOGM Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers' Meeting at the American University of Antigua in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kobir emphasized the necessity of operationalizing the Loss and Damage Fund and creating a unified mechanism to mobilize intra-Commonwealth investment. He also called for concerted support from Commonwealth nations for the repatriation of the Rohingyas.

Kobir highlighted the increasingly complex global landscape, urging renewed efforts to tackle shared challenges such as peace and security, climate resilience, energy and food security, and the responsible use of emerging technologies. The acting foreign minister is in Antigua and Barbuda to lead the Bangladesh delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which is taking place from November 1 to 4.
