Cumilla:Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad stated that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) engages in politics that aligns with the spirit of the 1971 War of Liberation and the 2024 Student-People Mass Uprising, resisting any exploitation of these historical moments for political gain.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Kaikobad criticized the Awami League for leveraging the Liberation War's spirit for political benefits and mentioned that another political party is now similarly exploiting the spirit of the July Mass Uprising. He expressed these views as the chief guest at a programme held at the Muradnagar Upazila Muktijoddha Complex in Cumilla.

During the event, Kaikobad distributed financial aid from his personal fund to freedom fighters and financially disadvantaged members of the Hindu community. He emphasized that the BNP does not wish to use historical spirits for political interests but aims to ensure respect and dignity for all, including freedom fighters and those involved in the July movement.

Kaikobad stressed the importance of maintaining communal harmony, quoting Prophet Muhammad on the sacred trust of protecting minorities' lives, property, and dignity. He acknowledged the support he received from the Hindu community during his last election and while serving a life sentence, underscoring the need for peaceful coexistence.

The minister also distributed a total of Taka 10 lakh from a welfare fund created with his contributions for the benefit of freedom fighters and the Hindu community. Prizes were awarded to participants of a tree plantation programme. The event saw attendance from local freedom fighters, Hindu community members, BNP leaders, government officials, and other local dignitaries.
