Dhaka:A sub-committee of the Library Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad convened to deliberate on the recruitment of junior consultants for parliamentary standing committees.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the first meeting of Sub-Committee No. 6 was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Library. The meeting was attended by Sub-committee Convener Dr. Md Mahabubur Rahman, MP, along with members Mohammad Nazibur Rahman, MP, and Akhter Hossen, MP.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the recruitment process, educational qualifications, and other criteria necessary for appointing five junior consultants through outsourcing. These consultants are intended for the standing committees on Finance, Home Affairs, Education, Health and Family Welfare, and Local Government. The sub-committee recommended a two-year contractual basis for these appointments, with an option for contract renewal.

Additionally, the sub-committee proposed the formation of a recruitment committee. This committee would comprise three MPs, a joint secretary, a deputy secretary or director, and an external expert in the relevant field. The sub-committee also suggested appointing a junior consultant for the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The possibility of conducting recruitment under the existing procedures of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, as opposed to outsourcing, was also discussed. Concerned officials from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
