Khulna:A special team of the Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) has arrested an alleged shooter of the Ashik gang during a raid in the Shipyard area of Khulna city. The raid resulted in the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Jony, and the seizure of firearms and ammunition.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation took place early today, with the SRB-6 team conducting a raid at approximately 130 am. Acting on a tip-off, they arrested 22-year-old Jony, son of the late Zahid Hasan from Chanmari Bazar area under Khulna Sadar Police Station. The team recovered a locally made one-shot gun, a double-barrel gun, and 10 rounds of shotgun ammunition from his possession.
A review of Jony's criminal history revealed that four cases, including charges under the Arms Act, murder, and attempted murder, had been filed against him at Khulna Sadar and Labanchara police stations. The confiscated firearms and ammunition were secured following legal procedures in the presence of witnesses.
Legal action is currently underway against Jony. A regular case under the Arms Act is to be filed with Khulna Sadar Police Station of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) before he is handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
