Narayanganj:Chattogram The Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram District Police has arrested Md Sabbir Hossain Sunny, 34, an associate of the Chattogram-based criminal figure Boro Sajjad, from Siddhirganj upazila in Narayanganj district. The arrest took place during a special operation in the Siddhirganj police station area on Friday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sunny was tasked with overseeing extortion and other criminal operations in Chattogram on behalf of David Emon, another criminal figure who is currently incarcerated. The arrest was publicized by Chattogram District Police on Saturday.
Sunny, who is the son of Md Malek from Satbosu under Kaliganj Police Station in Satkhira district, had been residing in the Hamzarbag area under Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram city. His detention followed a prolonged investigation and intelligence-based surveillance which ultimately led law enforcement to his location in Siddhirganj.
Md Rasel, the additional superintendent of police for Chattogram District, stated that Sunny is implicated in two separate cases filed with Panchlaish and Hathazari police stations in Chattogram. In addition, the Detective Branch has obtained an audio recording related to a recent incident involving alleged extortion demands and intimidation.
During interrogation, police reported that Sunny disclosed receiving a monthly salary of Tk 50,000 from Boro Sajjad. The authorities added that Sunny had been instructed to manage extortion and other criminal activities on behalf of David Emon, who is serving time in jail.
