Dhaka:The Stipendium Hungaricum Alumni Meetup-Dhaka was held on Thursday at the Dhaka Liaison Office of the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Bangladesh, located in Banani. The event brought together alumni, Hungarian diplomatic representatives, and distinguished guests.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the gathering was attended by Dr. Diana Daczi, Counsellor for Science and Technology at the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi, who traveled to Dhaka for the occasion. Dr. Evelin Oltean-Polanek, Consul at the Dhaka Office of the Embassy of Hungary, and Mokhlesur Rahman Talukdar, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Bangladesh, were also present, along with numerous alumni and other guests.

The meetup served as a platform for alumni and diplomatic representatives to exchange experiences, strengthen professional networks, and promote academic and cultural ties between Bangladesh and Hungary. It emphasized the role of scholarship programs in developing future leaders, professionals, and researchers while enhancing educational cooperation and people-to-people contacts between the two nations.

The Government of Hungary currently offers 140 scholarships annually to Bangladeshi students through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, covering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies. These fully funded scholarships cover tuition fees and include accommodation support, healthcare coverage, and a monthly living allowance. Students can choose from over 660 study programmes available at Hungarian universities.

The Dhaka Office of the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi, located in Gulshan-2, was established in July 2022 to bolster Hungary's diplomatic presence in Bangladesh and facilitate engagement with local stakeholders. The office also provides a point of contact for Bangladeshi students seeking information and assistance regarding higher education opportunities in Hungary, including the submission of visa applications.

The Stipendium Hungaricum programme continues to support educational cooperation between Bangladesh and Hungary, with its alumni network fostering academic exchanges, sharing experiences, and building enduring bilateral relationships.
