Dhaka:A court has ordered 26 individuals to be jailed in connection with an attack on the Special Response Battalion (SRB) during an anti-drug operation in Jatrabari, Dhaka. The incident involved an attempt to snatch firearms from law enforcement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accused were presented before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, where the investigation officer requested their detention until the investigation is completed. Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam subsequently ordered their incarceration.
The incident occurred during a SRB-10 anti-drug operation at the Outfall Staff Quarters in Jatrabari on October 27. During the operation, four individuals were detained while attempting to flee, leading to the recovery of drugs and proceeds from drug sales. The situation escalated when over a hundred people, including drug traders and relatives of the detainees, gathered and attacked the law enforcement team, injuring several officers. A case has been filed in connection with the attack.
