Gopalganj:A local court has sentenced two individuals to death and another to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of a 12-year-old boy in Sadar upazila in 2025.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court also imposed a fine of Taka 50,000 on each of the three convicts. The verdict was delivered by Mohammad Morshed Alam, the judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Gopalganj, during an afternoon session.

The individuals sentenced to death were identified as Mohammad Amin Uddin and Mohammad Shihab Molla, while Shawon Molla received a life imprisonment sentence. Liakat Ali Molla, another accused in the case, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

The prosecution detailed that on February 22, 2025, Talha, a 12-year-old boy, went missing after going to a shop with his mother to buy biscuits and cakes and later watching people fish near a canal. After efforts to locate him failed, his mother filed a general diary with the Gopinathpur Police Outpost. The police detained Amin Uddin, a tenant at the family's residence, and upon interrogation, recovered Talha's body from a trunk in Amin's room, with the child's hands and legs bound.

Following the discovery, Talha's father, Mohammad Manjurul Islam, filed a murder case against four individuals. The court's decision came after the completion of testimonies and legal procedures.
