Dhaka:The Local Government Division has retracted its previous order that paused all government tendering and procurement activities. The suspension, which excluded urgent state matters, was initially set in place pending the creation of new rules and the release of a revised rate schedule under the Public Procurement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the division issued a new order on Monday, allowing all tender and procurement processes related to works, services, and the supply of goods to resume under the current regulations.
Previously, on October 15, the division had instructed relevant authorities to halt all tender and procurement activities concerning works, services, and goods, except those related to urgent state matters. This suspension was intended to remain in effect until the new rules were established and the revised rate schedule published.
The initial directive had been sent to the chief executive officers of city corporations, managing directors of WASA, chief engineers of the Local Government Engineering Department and the Department of Public Health Engineering, as well as deputy commissioners, chief executive officers of district councils, and administrators of upazila parishads and municipalities.
