Dhaka:The Global Sourcing Expo Dhaka 2026 is set to commence on November 15, hosting a three-day event aimed at expanding Bangladesh's export trade, exploring new international markets, and strengthening connections between local manufacturers and foreign buyers.
According to United News of Bangladesh, this year's expo will showcase 12 sectors, an increase from the eight sectors featured last year. The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the organizer of the event, anticipates participation from approximately 200 companies.
The expo will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre from November 15 to 17, and will be inaugurated by Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir. The event, which debuted last year, has expanded its scope for its second edition.
The 12 sectors to be featured include readymade garments and textiles, leather and leather goods, handicrafts and jute products, agriculture and agro-processed products, plastics and kitchenware, furniture and home decor, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technology (ICT), paper and packaging, automobiles, light engineering, and ceramics and tableware.
In an effort to increase participation from international buyers and highlight Bangladesh's manufacturing capabilities, the EPB has reached out to ambassadors and high commissioners in Bangladesh for cooperation. Commercial counsellors at Bangladesh's embassies and high commissions abroad are also involved in these efforts.
A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon with foreign ambassadors, high commissioners in Bangladesh, joint chambers, buyers' forums, and representatives of trade promotion organizations to enhance the expo's effectiveness and international business networking.
Previously, the EPB conducted a meeting with chamber and association representatives, chaired by its vice-chairman and chief executive, to discuss event preparations. The organizers expect the expo to invigorate Bangladesh's export trade through collaboration between local and international stakeholders.
The event is anticipated to foster business partnerships between international buyers and suppliers, create new market opportunities, and bolster Bangladesh's position as a global sourcing hub. The EPB hopes that the expo's ongoing success will further solidify Bangladesh's standing in global sourcing in the future.
