Mymensingh:A Lalon music session titled "With the Supreme on a Full Moon Night" was held on the bank of the Brahmaputra River in Mymensingh city, organized by Mymensingh Baul Samity.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the sixth edition of the program took place on Sunday night at an open space beside the Bura Pir's Mazar in the Zero Point area, marking the demise of Lalon Fakir under the soft light of the first full moon of Hemanta.

The event featured devotional, Lalon, Sufi, and Baul songs performed by renowned and emerging artists from Mymensingh and other parts of the country. The moonlit riverbank, dimly lit stage, and hurricane lanterns created a captivating atmosphere, drawing local residents and cultural personalities.

The program began with a Milad and recitation of Darud Sharif after Maghrib prayers, seeking world peace and the well-being of all. Pir Khorshed Alam Dayal conducted the Milad, while the main musical session started at 830 pm.

Artists including Mizan Baula, Joyita Orpa, Chandan Shah, Sohagi Sarkar, Shahnaz Sathi, Baul Chan Mia, Maleka Khatun, Sabina Sarkar, and other Baul performers enthralled the audience with Lalon's spiritual songs exploring life's philosophy and the relationship between creation and the Creator.

A spectator, Ahad Mia, said he stopped after hearing the melodies while traveling nearby and wished to listen throughout the night.

Mymensingh Baul Samity Vice-President Kajal Dewan said the program aimed to help people find mental peace amid modern life's pressures and promote social harmony through spiritual awareness.

General Secretary Rezaul Karim Aslam mentioned that Baul artists have fewer opportunities to perform at open-air gatherings. "Music is the lifeblood of the Bauls. To keep their lifeblood alive, we organize this program on every full moon night," he said, adding that the tradition would continue with public support.
