Dhaka:Bangladesh's burgeoning semiconductor design ecosystem is poised for expansion with the appointment of Penta Global Ltd as an authorised distributor of Siemens Electronic Design Automation (EDA) technology, training, and support services in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Penta Global has formalized an agreement with Siemens Industry Software Limited (SISW) to provide Siemens EDA products, training, and support to SISW customers in Bangladesh. Siemens Industry Software confirmed this authorisation in a letter dated September 24, as mentioned in a press release.

EDA tools are essential across the semiconductor value chain, including chip design, verification, signoff, and advanced packaging. Penta Global aims to prioritize talent development by fostering university-industry collaboration and equipping individuals with job-ready skills through Siemens EDA technology.

The Siemens EDA training programs are designed to align local talent with global industry standards, enhancing readiness for international semiconductor industry opportunities. This initiative will also strengthen connections among Bangladesh's universities, semiconductor companies, global experts, and diaspora professionals, facilitating knowledge transfer and collaboration in areas such as AI-driven chip design and advanced packaging.

Moreover, the initiative supports local semiconductor design-service companies in advancing up the value chain towards intellectual property (IP) and product development. Penta Global's Managing Director, Faysal Zaman, highlighted Bangladesh's strong foundation of skilled engineers, a growing technology sector, and an engaged global Bangladeshi professional community as key factors in leveraging advanced technology for higher-value capabilities.

Siemens EDA Partner Account Manager Denis Lobzov described the authorisation of Penta Global as a strategic milestone in Siemens' 'Country as a Customer' initiative for Bangladesh. He emphasized Siemens' commitment to empowering local talent and driving innovation in AI, 3D-IC, and digital twin technologies, ensuring Bangladesh's significant role in the global semiconductor value chain.

As an authorised distributor, Penta Global will serve as a local interface for Siemens EDA technology, connecting Bangladesh's engineering talent, academia, and semiconductor industry with global technology and opportunities.
