Cumilla:Two young children tragically drowned in a pond at Baraiya village under Bagmara South union in Lalmai upazila this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were identified as Abdur Rahman, aged 4, son of expatriate Sohel Rana, and Jubayer, aged 5, son of Jewel Rana. Both children were residents of Baraiya village.
Family members reported that the incident occurred while the children were playing near their home and accidentally fell into a nearby pond. The children were discovered floating in the pond around 1130 am after a search was initiated by the family.
They were immediately rescued and taken to a doctor at Bagmara Bazar, where they were declared dead, as confirmed by Inspector (Investigation) Saiful Islam of Lalmai Police Station.
