Dhaka:Markets, shopping malls, and shops across the capital have reverted to their previous operating hours of 11 am to 8 pm. This change follows the expiration of the temporary extension of shopping hours that was implemented during Durga Puja.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a directive issued by the Power Division on October 5 permitted the city's markets, shopping malls, and shops to remain open until 10 pm during the festival. This extended schedule was in effect until Thursday.

The previous operating schedule was reinstated on October 23, as per the directive. Earlier, on August 12, the government had imposed restrictions on shopping hours as part of efforts to conserve and manage electricity. The Power Division also instructed that lights in shops and shopping malls be switched off after 7 pm.
