Bogura:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assumed responsibility for the medical treatment of three-year-old Abu Bakkar from Nandigram upazila in Bogura district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abu Bakkar, who was born with a congenital eye defect, has already undergone three surgeries. Doctors have indicated that two more surgeries could potentially restore his eyesight. The child's father, a daily-wage agricultural laborer from Sidel village in Burail Union, has been struggling to afford the medical costs due to his limited income, supporting a family of four.
A social media post requesting financial help for Abu Bakkar's treatment went viral, capturing the attention of the Prime Minister. Taking immediate action, Prime Minister Rahman instructed his Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Rumon, to facilitate the child's treatment and cover the related expenses.
The Additional Press Secretary, along with Muksedul Momin Mithun from 'Amra BNP Paribar,' and BNP Media Cell's regional coordinator Kalam Azad, as well as Md. Rasheduzzaman Piyas from Bogura, are overseeing the treatment and conducting necessary inquiries locally. This initiative has given Abu Bakkar's family renewed hope for his recovery through advanced medical care, thanks to the Prime Minister's intervention.
