Chandraganj:Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee has called for a united social movement to protect people's dignity and build a better society, highlighting the significant losses people have faced over the past 17 years. He emphasized that the public does not want further losses.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Anee made these remarks while addressing a meeting organized by Life Line Welfare Organization at Ayesha High School field in Totakhil under Chandraganj upazila. He urged individuals to remain united against social issues and work together to foster societal improvement, emphasizing that the country was reclaimed through struggle and sacrifice.

Anee advised against issuing threats of a one-point movement, stating that such threats offer no benefits. He remarked that the BNP, having emerged from streets through movements and struggles, would not be intimidated. He accused Jamaat-e-Islami of colluding with the Awami League to enforce strikes and blockades for 172 days in 1996.

The minister described Islami Chhatra Shibir as a clandestine organization that had operated at various universities before August 5 and urged people to stay vigilant. He criticized opposition parties for hindering government efforts outside Parliament while delivering eloquent speeches inside the House. Anee advocated for political parties to focus on national and social development rather than limiting their activities to rallies and meetings.

Further, Anee called for collective efforts to counter religious misinterpretations, misinformation, and drug abuse, warning that individuals involved in such activities would face consequences irrespective of their influence. Concluding the event, he distributed sewing machines among women attendees.
