Bhola:Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram, stated today that there is no possibility of Sheikh Hasina returning home within the next 10 years, based on his political experience.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hafiz Uddin Ahmad expressed his views during a conversation with journalists at the district circuit house. He criticized the Awami League for creating an electoral environment that he claims hinders honest and neutral individuals from participating in elections, emphasizing the need for significant electoral reforms.
He further opined that individuals who are not wealthy but possess popularity and societal acceptability should be allowed to contest elections. He stressed that the Election Commission should establish a system enabling ordinary people to run for office.
The Speaker underscored the importance of impartiality in the upcoming local government elections, stating that previous elections over the last 17 years were not conducted fairly and that the forthcoming elections should be free, fair, and impartial.
Highlighting Bhola's natural gas potential, Hafiz noted that the district possesses gas reserves comparable to the country's current reserves, with the possibility of additional undiscovered reserves. He emphasized that the people of Bhola, who have been suffering for a long time, have a rightful claim to this natural resource.
Following his remarks, Hafiz Uddin Ahmad concluded his three-day visit to his constituency of Lalmohan-Tazumuddin and returned to Dhaka.
