Kuakata:After a gap of nine long years, Kuakata is all set to host the two-day "Tourism Carnival 2026," beginning tomorrow. The event promises a variety of activities that include beach football, cricket, a marathon, kite and pitha festivals, a fashion show, musical events, and a tour of the char areas. Organisers are anticipating a significant influx of tourists to the beach.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md. Arifuzzaman, a member of the carnival organising committee, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, and member secretary of the Beach Management Committee, stated that the consecutive holidays combined with the carnival could attract five to six lakh tourists. Preparations are underway across the beach to accommodate this expected turnout.
This year's carnival has introduced several new attractions, moving beyond the conventional format to create a festive atmosphere by combining entertainment, sports, local culture, and tourism experiences. The event will feature stalls and photo booths, with participation from various organisations and brands. Remark-Harland, the beauty partner, will display products from its beauty and personal care brands, enhancing the event's appeal.
The carnival aims to showcase Kuakata's natural beauty and local heritage. Known for the unique experience of viewing both sunrise and sunset from the same spot, Kuakata also offers attractions like the Lembur Forest, Gangamati, Red Crab Char, Rakhine village, and a Buddhist temple. Visitors will have the chance to explore local food, culture, and lifestyles.
Sports will be prominently featured, with beach football, cricket, and a marathon. The festival will also include kite flying, pitha celebrations, fashion shows, musical performances, and cultural displays to enliven the carnival atmosphere. Additionally, tours of the char areas will offer insights into the natural environment and local lifestyle.
Local tourism entrepreneurs are hopeful that the return of the carnival will revitalize Kuakata's tourism potential. An increase in tourist numbers could positively impact related businesses such as hotels, motels, restaurants, transport, and local product sales. Organisers anticipate that the Kuakata Tourism Carnival 2026 will blend natural beauty, heritage, sports, and cultural events to create a memorable experience for tourists and aid in the growth of the country's tourism sector.
