Rangpur:The Sanatan community concluded the five-day Durga Puja celebrations with the immersion of Goddess Durga's idols in various water bodies across the district. The ceremonies were completed by 9 pm at locations including Mulatol Dighee, Dimla Mandir Dighee, Jailkhana Ghat, Doulatpur Dighee, Rail Gate Dighee, and the Ghagot River.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration and Rangpur Metropolitan Police assisted puja mandap authorities in transporting and immersing the idols. The festival was celebrated peacefully at 964 puja mandaps across the Rangpur metropolis and all eight upazilas with tight security.

On Bijoya Dashami, the final day of the festival, puja mandaps were decorated with colorful ornaments. The day's rituals included final offerings, the traditional 'sindoor khela,' and the immersion of idols. Devotees performed rituals like 'darpan visarjan' and 'ghat visarjan' to mark the end of the Sharadiya Durga Puja.

An emotional atmosphere prevailed as devotees bid farewell to the Goddess. Women participated in 'sindoor khela,' applying vermilion and exchanging good wishes. Devotees emphasized the festival's symbolism of the triumph of good over evil, as Goddess Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura represents justice over injustice.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rashid noted the implementation of special four-tier security measures during the festivities, ensuring maximum security around temples to maintain law and order.
