Khulna:Jatiya Sangsad whip and BNP national executive committee student affairs secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul has emphasized the need for collective efforts to counter conspiracies aimed at creating communal divisions and undermining religious harmony in Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bakul highlighted Bangladesh as an example of communal harmony, where people of different faiths have coexisted and celebrated religious festivals together for thousands of years. He made these remarks while addressing a prayer and discussion meeting at the Nepal Ashram Puja Mandap in Teligati, Khulna city.
Bakul emphasized the central message of Durga Puja, which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. He urged people to uphold this spirit by uniting against any attempts to spread communal discord. He reiterated that mutual goodwill, compassion, and brotherhood are longstanding traditions in Bangladesh, and preserving this heritage is everyone's responsibility.
Religious identity should not be a source of division, Bakul insisted, stressing that religious values, humanity, and mutual respect can strengthen bonds among people of different faiths. He also stated that the government is committed to ensuring religious freedom, equal rights, and security for all citizens, allowing them to practice their religion and celebrate festivals without hindrance.
Bakul warned against attempts to exploit religion to divide people and urged citizens to rise above political and religious differences to protect the rights and dignity of everyone. He extended Durga Puja greetings to the Hindu community, expressing hope that the festival would enhance communal harmony and contribute to the country's peace, development, and prosperity.
The meeting was chaired by Thakur Biswas, president of the Nepal Ashram Puja Committee, and attended by Khulna City BNP General Secretary and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, along with BNP leaders Mir Kaysed Ali and Sheikh Sadi.
