Tazumuddin:Dhaka Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom, stated that the people of the country would reject the Awami League's return to politics, labeling it a corrupt and terrorist entity.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Speaker made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a reception organized by Tazumuddin Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations at the Upazila Parishad Hall. The event was held this afternoon to celebrate his election as chairman of the Asia-Pacific Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

During his speech, the Speaker accused Awami League leaders of looting public resources and amassing wealth overseas. He recounted past political rivalries in his constituency, mentioning that Sheikh Hasina had supported Tofail Ahmed against him in the 2001 election. Following Tofail's defeat, he claimed Hasina brought a terrorist from Dhaka to run against him.

The Speaker also alleged that this individual had acquired significant land and properties through corruption but fled the country with his family after August 5, abandoning his assets. Hafiz Uddin pledged further development in his constituency, including plans to upgrade Tazumuddin to a municipality and construct a recreational park along the Meghna River.

He further directed law enforcement to arrest an alleged criminal, Salaunddin Dakait of Char Mozammel, and urged the administration to enforce drug laws strictly. The event was chaired by Tazumuddin Upazila BNP President Golam Mostafa Mintu, and conducted by General Secretary Omar Asad Rintu. Local BNP leaders and activists also attended, while representatives from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami presented floral greetings to the Speaker.

Earlier, the Speaker was greeted at his residence in Lalmohan by newly formed committees of the Lalmohan upazila, municipality, and college units of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
