Dhaka:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has officially accepted the resignation of Ishraque Hossain, the State Minister for Liberation War Affairs.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Cabinet Division released a gazette notification today confirming the resignation. The notification, signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani on behalf of the President, indicated that the acceptance of the resignation is immediate.
Earlier, Ishraque Hossain announced his voluntary resignation at a press conference on Monday. During the event, he discussed his involvement in an anti-drug drive in the Gandaria area of the capital and his possession of a licensed firearm. He stated that he would be stepping down from his ministerial position.
The gazette notification issued today formalizes the resignation, marking its immediate effect.
