Jhenaidah:Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman emphasized that all party leaders and activists must support BNP-nominated candidates in the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections. He warned that anyone opposing the party-nominated candidates will be excluded from the party.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister stated that the prime minister would provide guidelines for the local elections, noting that detailed information on every union will be maintained in the prime minister's computer system. Party members who defy directives and show disloyalty will face consequences.
Md Asaduzzaman, speaking at an event at the Shailkupa upazila BNP office, mentioned that the party seeks winnable candidates for the elections. He noted that even senior leaders would not be nominated if there is a risk of defeat, emphasizing the importance of the party's success over individual seniority.
The event was attended by Shailkupa Upazila BNP President Abul Hossain, General Secretary Humayun Babar Firoz, and other BNP leaders and activists.
Separately, at a reception for students in Shailkupa, the minister remarked that the absence of opposition members from the committee on constitutional amendments would not hinder the process, as they would be present in parliament during the amendment discussions.
