Bhola:Nearly 22,000 people have received free medical care and medicines through a series of eye care camps organized under the supervision of Information and Broadcasting Minister and Bhola-1 constituency lawmaker, Barrister Andaleeve Rahman, over the past two months.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative was carried out in five phases across 13 unions of Bhola Sadar Upazila, aiming to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities. A recent camp took place at Alinagar Union Parishad in Bhola Sadar, where services were offered from 1000 am to 300 pm.
The camps were organized at the request of Andaleeve Rahman, who is also the chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP). Medical support was provided by Eye Alo Retina Glaucoma Hospital and Phaco Centre. Led by ophthalmologist and surgeon Dr. Md. Shakib, a team of experienced physicians examined patients, offered consultations, and distributed medicines free of charge.
BJP Organizing Secretary Professor Mohammad Nur Nabi stated that more than 1,000 individuals, including men, women, and children, received treatment and free medicines at the Alinagar camp. Patients expressed gratitude for the opportunity to consult specialist doctors without incurring expenses and thanked Minister Andaleeve Rahman for facilitating the program.
Amirul Islam Ratan, a member of the organizing committee and president of BJP's Bhola district unit, mentioned that the primary goal was to bring healthcare services to those unable to afford specialist consultations. He added that the initiative, benefiting around 22,000 people with free medical consultations and medicines, would continue in the future.
