Dhaka:The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator, valiant freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam, has launched the construction of the main gate and boundary wall for the Shri Shri Dhakeshwari National Temple. The project is estimated to cost around Tk 2.5 crore.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md Abdus Salam unveiled the plaque at the temple during the inauguration ceremony. He emphasized the city corporation's commitment to enhancing the beauty of Dhakeshwari Temple and the historic areas of old Dhaka. To support the temple's development, an additional Tk 15 lakh has been allocated for its improvement, alongside the ongoing construction work.

The DSCC has taken measures to beautify the surroundings by repairing roads leading to various temples, arranging lighting, and cleaning drains in preparation for Durga Puja. This year, for the first time, the DSCC provided Tk 19.8 lakh in grants to 168 Puja mandaps within its jurisdiction.

Furthermore, the DSCC administrator mentioned that around 680 families from the Telugu and Kanpuri communities, who are part of the city corporation's cleaning staff, received Durga Puja bonuses on behalf of the prime minister. This initiative was aimed at ensuring their participation in the festivities.

Following the inauguration, Md Abdus Salam visited the temple and exchanged greetings in celebration of Durga Puja, with leaders from the Dhaka Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Committee in attendance.
