Dhaka:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accepted the resignation of State Minister for Liberation War Affairs, Ishraque Hossain. The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification today confirming the acceptance of the resignation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification was signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani by order of the President. It stated that the resignation of Ishraque Hossain would take effect immediately.
Earlier, Ishraque Hossain had announced his voluntary resignation from the Cabinet at a press conference on Monday. He explained the circumstances surrounding an anti-drug drive in Gandaria in the capital and his carrying of a licensed firearm. During the same press conference, he declared his decision to step down from his role as state minister.
The gazette notification issued subsequently made his resignation formally effective.
