Pirojpur:State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammad Sohel Monzoor has visited the site of a trawler capsize on the Kaliganga River, which straddles the border of Nazirpur and Nesarabad upazilas in Pirojpur district. The incident resulted in the death of a child, while the child's mother is still missing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the trawler capsized around 900 pm on Monday while attempting to cross the Kaliganga River. It was reportedly carrying an excessive number of passengers and goods at the time of the accident.
Rescue operations have been ongoing with divers from the Fire Service and Civil Defence and the Bangladesh Navy working to locate and recover the missing woman. During his visit, the state minister was briefed on the rescue efforts and instructed the authorities to expedite the recovery process.
Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Golam Rabbani, Police Superintendent Muhammad Talebur Rahman, and Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sajia Sahnaj Tama accompanied the minister during the inspection.
