Dhaka:The LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry has announced the formation of 20 special monitoring committees in Dhaka. These committees aim to enhance efforts in dengue prevention, cleanliness, canal demarcation and re-excavation, and tree plantation in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committees are split evenly between the Dhaka North City Corporation and the Dhaka South City Corporation, aligning with the zones managed by the regional executive officers' offices. Each zonal committee will be led by director-level officials from the Prime Minister's Office and will include representatives from relevant government divisions, Dhaka WASA, metropolitan police, city corporation departments, and law enforcement agencies. Executive magistrates will also be part of these committees.

These decisions were made during a review meeting held at the Local Government Division's conference room. The meeting was chaired by State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, and attended by State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, as a special guest.

Additionally, a high-level monitoring committee will be established, with Ahammad Sohel Monzoor serving as the convener. This committee will oversee and coordinate the activities of the 20 zonal committees and will include representatives from the Local Government Division, city corporations, Dhaka WASA, and relevant health and education divisions.

The committees will be responsible for conducting field-level cleanliness drives, speeding up canal boundary demarcation and excavation, and ensuring effective mosquito-control measures. Senior Secretary of the Local Government Division, Md Shahidul Hasan, along with senior officials from relevant ministries, divisions, and agencies, were present at the meeting.
