Dhaka:Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the BNP Acting Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, stated that attempts are being made to mislead people by disseminating false information regarding the government's social protection initiatives. He emphasized that the current government is committed to being people-friendly and addressed misinformation about various cards, including the family card, farmer card, expatriate card, and health card.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made these remarks as the chief guest at a protest rally held in front of the National Press Club, organized by the Nationalist Textile Engineers Association of Bangladesh (JETEB). JETEB President Fakhrul Alam presided over the event.
Rizvi asserted that people cannot be swayed by false propaganda against the government's social protection measures and stressed that any criticism should be based on facts. He highlighted the farmer card, which facilitates delivering at least Tk 2,500 per month to marginal, poor, and landless farmers, alongside record agricultural loans and microcredit disbursements aimed at boosting agricultural production.
He further mentioned that the government aims to alleviate people's hardships by fulfilling responsibilities beyond mere promises, supporting them in both joys and sorrows. Rizvi also criticized Sheikh Hasina's rule, claiming that Bangladesh's electoral system was compromised through corruption and controlled elections, which affected citizens' voting rights and freedom of speech.
Additionally, he accused Sheikh Hasina of influencing various institutions, including the courts and administration, by appointing her close associates.
