Cox's Bazar:The popular beach destination of Cox's Bazar is experiencing a significant influx of tourists during the weekend preceding the five-day Durga Puja holiday. Visitors from both local and international locations are flocking to the beach to enjoy the scenic waves, expansive sandy areas, and clear blue waters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on Friday afternoon, the Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points of the beach were especially crowded with tourists and local visitors. The improved weather conditions have contributed to the increased number of visitors, who are keen to enjoy the beach and sea waves.
Lifeguards have been on high alert to ensure the safety of those swimming in the sea, particularly at Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points. Despite the relatively favorable sea conditions, red flags were raised during low tide as a precautionary measure.
Tourists were seen enjoying themselves at Sugandha Point around 400 pm on Friday, capturing photographs and spending time with family and friends. Huzaifa Amin, a visitor from Dhaka's Dhanmondi area, expressed his enjoyment of the beach and its welcoming weather, saying it was a delightful experience after a long time.
Local resident Osman Gani noted that the beach became crowded in the afternoon, as Friday is a weekly holiday. Along with tourists, numerous local people visited the beach, adding to its vibrant atmosphere.
Abul Kashem Sikder, president of the Cox's Bazar Hotel-Motel Owners Association, remarked on the unexpected large turnout of tourists even before the official start of the Durga Puja holidays, expressing satisfaction with the situation.
Visitors are also exploring other attractions in the district, such as Marine Drive and Himchari Waterfall, in addition to the beach. Md Mahmudur Rahman Sayem, assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of the Tourism Cell of Cox's Bazar district administration, emphasized that ensuring tourists' safety and proper management of the tourism sector are top priorities, with measures in place to prevent excessive pricing or harassment.
