Dhaka:State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom emphasized the importance of promoting national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's ideals of secularism, equality, humanity, and an exploitation-free society among the younger generation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khyom highlighted that Nazrul was not only a poet of rebellion but also one who advocated for equality, harmony, human dignity, and social justice. He suggested that studying Nazrul's philosophy and creative works could help strengthen human values in society.

Khyom made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion and cultural program marking Nazrul Year, held at the auditorium of the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The event was titled "Abartoner Nibedan Chirodiner Nazrul."

The state minister noted that Nazrul's literary works championed human liberation, rights, and dignity, and that his opposition to injustice, discrimination, and communalism remains relevant today. He urged young people to engage with Nazrul's writings, songs, and struggles.

Khyom also encouraged educational institutions and cultural organizations to expand initiatives promoting the poet's works. He stressed the need for research into Nazrul's lesser-known creations and their dissemination through modern technology to reach both domestic and international audiences.

The program concluded with performances of Nazrul's songs, poetry recitations, and other cultural activities paying tribute to the national poet.
