Sajek:More than 800 tourists flocked to Sajek, known as the kingdom of clouds, on Friday morning, marking the first day since the ban on tourist visits was lifted. This influx of tourists has revitalized the local economy, bringing renewed activity to resorts, restaurants, and the transport sector.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Suporna Deb Barman, president of the Sajek Cottage-Resort Owners Association and a member of the district council, reported that many tourists have already confirmed advance bookings to enjoy Sajek's scenic beauty, where clouds drift along the hillsides.
Local businesses, including cottage, restaurant, and transport owners, have made thorough preparations to welcome the influx of visitors. The Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Tofazzal Hossain, stated that special attention is being given to security arrangements to ensure tourists can travel and enjoy their visits without facing any inconvenience or harassment.
Travel restrictions to Sajek had been in place for the past few days due to security concerns and other unavoidable reasons, leading to uncertainty in many tourists' travel plans. However, with the situation returning to normal, the local administration lifted the travel ban on Friday morning. Tourist vehicles quickly began making their way to Sajek via the winding hilly roads through Khagrachhari.
Tourism stakeholders in Sajek are optimistic that tourist numbers will continue to rise in the coming days, provided that weather and overall conditions remain favorable.
