Accra:The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has instructed all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions across the country to maintain special awareness programs targeting drug abuse, teen gangs, eve-teasing, and activities associated with 'Rag Day.' These initiatives aim to encourage students to focus more on their studies at night.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, regional directors and deputy directors have been tasked with submitting comprehensive progress reports on the implementation of these directives by October 26.

The DSHE issued these instructions through an office order published on its website, emphasizing the importance of screening anti-drug documentaries and theme songs produced by the Department of Narcotics Control. The order also calls for community mobilization to foster a social movement against drug abuse.

Educational institutions are also mandated to implement effective measures to prevent eve-teasing and manage disorderly activities linked to 'Rag Day.' The directive highlights the need to raise awareness among students and guardians about the benefits of nighttime study through regular parent gatherings, meetings, seminars, and the distribution of informational leaflets.

Regional offices are required to compile progress reports using a specified format, detailing the total number of educational institutions in their districts, the rate of anti-drug documentary screenings, the formation of committees to combat eve-teasing, the number of parent gatherings conducted, and initiatives to promote student study habits at night. These reports must be submitted to the directorate via email by the October 26 deadline.
