Chattogram:The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has sealed three buildings for violating approved construction plans and fined the owners Taka 20 lakh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CDA, with the assistance of the Bangladesh Power Development Board, disconnected electricity to five additional buildings. Mobile courts conducted inspections in several areas, including Kotwali, Khalifapatti, Abedin Colony, Chawkbazar Kitchen Market, and the BITAC area of Pahartali, covering a total of seven buildings.
During these inspections, unauthorized portions of buildings that exceeded approved plans were demolished. Building owners were required to sign undertakings to ensure future compliance with CDA-approved plans. In Abedin Colony, a building approved for eight stories was found to have been constructed up to 11 stories. Although no representative of the owner was present, it was discovered that tenants were living in the building, receiving electricity through a single construction meter. On humanitarian grounds, the building was not sealed, but its electricity supply was disconnected.
The operation was led by Mohammad Manjur Hasan, CDA's Chief Special Metropolitan Magistrate, and included the participation of Authorized Officer-2 Tanjib Hossain. Hasan stated that the CDA would continue its efforts against illegal structures and buildings that do not adhere to approved plans.
