Dhaka:A special lecture titled "The Two-State Solution at a Crossroads What Future for Palestine?" was conducted at the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sanaa Alsarghali, UNESCO Chair of An-Najah National University, Palestine, with Prof. Dr. A. S. M. Ali Ashraf, Chairman of the Department of International Relations, presiding over the session.
During her address, Prof. Dr. Alsarghali emphasized the potential for a viable path for Palestine by September 2025. She highlighted the consistent efforts of justice and rights advisors who have addressed the situation as an illegal occupation, encouraging nations committed to international law to support the New York Declaration. This declaration, led by France and Sweden, aimed to restart the two-state solution process, resolve the Palestinian crisis, and establish a recognized, livable, and democratic Palestinian state.
Prof. Alsarghali stated that while some conditions for a livable Palestinian state are beyond Palestinian control, achieving a democratic state requires reforms by the Palestinian Authority, some self-imposed and others externally enforced.
She also discussed the shifting geopolitical landscape, noting the necessity of acknowledging new global realities. She remarked on the possibility of a state recognized internationally even if it remains under occupation.
