Chattogram:The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has taken action against several buildings for non-compliance with approved construction plans, resulting in the sealing of three properties and fines amounting to Taka 20 lakh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CDA, with assistance from the Bangladesh Power Development Board, disconnected electricity to five buildings and conducted inspections across various areas, including Kotwali, Khalifapatti, Abedin Colony, Chawkbazar Kitchen Market, and the BITAC area of Pahartali. During these inspections, unauthorized building sections were demolished, and owners were made to sign undertakings to adhere to approved plans for future constructions.

In Abedin Colony, a building intended for eight storeys was found to have 11 storeys. No representative of the owner was present during the inspection, and it was discovered that tenants were using electricity from a construction meter. The CDA chose not to seal the building due to humanitarian reasons since tenants were residing there, but its electricity supply was cut off.

The operation was led by Mohammad Manjur Hasan, CDA's Chief Special Metropolitan Magistrate, who also serves as Joint District and Sessions Judge, Superintending Engineer (Current Charge), and Chairman of Building Construction Committee-2, alongside Authorized Officer-2 Tanjib Hossain. Hasan emphasized that the CDA would continue to enforce regulations against illegal structures and ensure compliance with approved building plans.
