Accra:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Transfer of Property (Amendment) Bill, 2026, has been introduced to create a new method for transferring property while maintaining the existing rules for Heba (gift) and property transfers.

This legislative proposal allows individuals who donate or transfer property within specified family relationships to retain possession and enjoyment of the property during their lifetime.

The bill has added new Sections 122A and 122B under Section 122 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882. These sections establish a framework for ensuring the donor's rights to possess and enjoy the property for life when involved in gift or transfer transactions within certain family connections.

The details were shared in a letter from the Political-2 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The bill was formally presented in the National Parliament on September 6.
