Accra:A meeting will be held by the Election Commission (EC) tomorrow to decide the phases and schedule for the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections. The meeting is set to commence at 1030 am, with Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin presiding.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting's agenda will include discussions on local government elections and the delegation of administrative and financial powers to officials of the National Identity Registration Wing. Other topics on the agenda include machine maintenance, card printing, outstanding bills, and new contracts at the Personalisation Centre. The draft National Election Award Policy 2025 will also be reviewed.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah stated last Thursday that the commission plans to finalize the phases and dates of the UP elections during Monday's meeting. He mentioned that district election officers would be responsible for announcing the election schedules at the field level, while the commission will determine the phases. Sanaullah also expressed optimism that all election phases would be completed within the previously announced timeframe.
