Madaripur:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Press Institute Bangladesh's fact-checking body, BanglaFact, has debunked a false claim involving a viral video. The video purportedly showed an assault on the mother of a banned Chhatra League leader.
BanglaFact's investigation revealed that the video actually depicted a family dispute at the Madaripur Judge Court, not an assault on the mother of the vice-president of the banned Chhatra League's Savar district unit.
The video was initially published on August 24 on the Facebook page of online news portal Dainik Sokal. The headline suggested a clash between a son-in-law and his mother-in-law at the court, which was also confirmed by an identical video on Barta Mail’s Facebook page.
BanglaFact clarified that the video was being circulated with misleading claims and stressed that the assertion of an assault on the Chhatra League leader’s mother was entirely false. The organization continues to work on combating misinformation and providing accurate information to the public in Bangladesh.
