Dhaka:Bangladesh Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have established a new cooperation framework to tackle organised immigration crime, focusing on preventing fraudulent migration and protecting individuals from exploitation by criminal networks.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement aims to enhance bilateral efforts in identifying and disrupting criminal activities related to immigration, such as document and visa fraud, through improved information sharing and operational coordination. This initiative is designed to identify and address the criminal networks exploiting migrants through fraudulent schemes.

The framework also includes provisions for regular bilateral engagements to review progress, exchange information, and discuss cases of mutual interest. British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, emphasized that the agreement reflects the strong partnership between Dhaka and London, as well as their commitment to combating immigration-related crimes.

Cooke highlighted that the enhanced cooperation would help prevent migration-related fraud, exploitation, and human trafficking while promoting safe and lawful migration. The agreement underscores the mutual determination to protect citizens from organised criminal groups and support lawful migration initiatives.

The framework is expected to bolster cooperation between relevant authorities in both countries, addressing cross-border immigration crimes and safeguarding potential migrants from exploitation.
