Abu Dhabi:Hasan Mahmud made cricket history by becoming the first Bangladeshi pacer to claim a hat-trick in Test cricket during the ongoing match against Afghanistan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hasan accomplished this significant milestone in the 82nd over of Afghanistan's first innings on the second day of the Test. He dismissed Ismat Alam, Zia-ur-Rehman, and Qais Ahmad with consecutive deliveries, reducing Afghanistan to 220-8.

Hasan's hat-trick began by bowling Ismat for just 1 run, followed by trapping Zia-ur-Rehman leg-before for a duck. He completed the hat-trick with a delivery that edged Qais to wicketkeeper Liton Das.

This achievement makes Hasan the third Bangladeshi bowler to secure a Test hat-trick, following leg-spinner Alok Kapali in 2003 against Pakistan and off-spinner Sohag Gazi in 2013 against New Zealand. However, Hasan is the first pacer from Bangladesh to achieve this, ending a 13-year wait for another Test hat-trick for the country.

In Bangladesh's first innings, they scored 346, supported by half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shadman Islam, and Liton Das. Afghanistan's innings saw resistance from Abdul Malik and Rahmat Shah, but their progress was disrupted by Hasan's hat-trick and Ebadot Hossain's three wickets.
