Dhaka:All scheduled banks will remain closed for five consecutive days starting October 20 due to the Durga Puja festival.

According to United News of Bangladesh, a circular from the Supervised Data Management and Analytics Department of Bangladesh Bank announced the closure. The banks will be closed from October 20 to 22 due to public holidays, with the closure extending into the regular weekend on October 23 and 24.

Despite the extended closure, banks will function normally on Saturday, October 17, 2026. This directive is in line with a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration, issued on October 7, 2026.

Certain bank branches, especially those in sea, land, and airport port areas, will continue operations related to import and export on a limited scale during the holidays. These branches are expected to coordinate with local administration and port or customs authorities as per existing guidelines.
