Uttara:A group of protesters under the banner 'Anti-Autocracy General People' staged a demonstration outside the Uttara residence of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader on Monday, demanding his immediate arrest.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the protesters gathered around 11 a.m., staging a sit-in on the road in front of Quader's house and chanting slogans. Although they did not enter the residence, they vandalized its windowpanes before dispersing ahead of police arrival, witnesses reported.

Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station Khalid Mansur stated that police responded to information about the protest but found no one there upon arrival. However, they observed the broken windowpanes at the scene.

The protesters accused GM Quader of betraying those who died in the July Uprising and of maintaining secret communications with ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India. Carrying a banner with Quader's portrait depicted as imprisoned, they demanded his arrest for allegedly supporting fascism and politically legitimizing the Awami League government by participating in the last three national elections.

The protesters urged the government to ensure GM Quader faces justice and declared that there should be no place for fascism in the 'new Bangladesh'.
