Brisbane:Sobhana Mostary made history by scoring 118 runs against Australia, becoming the first Bangladeshi woman to achieve a one-day century against the Australian team.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Mostary's achievement came during the second match of a three-game series in Brisbane. She reached her century by defending a ball from Annabel Sutherland and completing a single. After reaching the milestone, she celebrated by raising her bat and sharing an embrace with her captain, Nigar Sultana.

The Bangladesh team faced early setbacks, standing at 8 for 3 after 7.2 overs. However, Mostary and Sultana stabilized the innings, amassing a 195-run partnership from 243 balls. Mostary reached her fifty in 66 balls and completed her century in 124 balls. Sultana contributed significantly with an unbeaten 74.

Bangladesh concluded their innings with 220 for 6 in 50 overs, marking their first score over 200 against Australia in seven one-day encounters. Previously, their highest score against Australia was 153 in the first match of this series.

Mostary is only the eighth batter to score a century against Australia on their home ground and joins her compatriots Farzana Hoque and Nigar Sultana in the select group of Bangladeshi women with one-day centuries. Her innings included 18 fours before being bowled out by Megan Schutt for 118 off 134 balls.
