Natore:Police recovered a laptop stolen from a German tourist at the Natore Railway Station. The recovery was made from a clothing shop in the town on Sunday night, and a shop employee was detained for questioning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the laptop was retrieved from Noor Cloth Store in the Nichabazar area around 930 p.m. following a tip-off. A special team from the Natore Sadar Police Station detained an employee named Antar for interrogation.
Natore Superintendent of Police Shariful Haque visited the police station after the recovery and questioned the detainee. In a briefing, the SP confirmed the recovery and stated that efforts are underway to arrest the main person involved in the theft.
The German tourist, Krill Lander Weber, who is of Ukrainian origin, visited several heritage sites in Bogura on October 7 before traveling by train to Santahar Railway Station. He later boarded another train for Natore, where he met an unidentified young man at the railway station. After gaining Weber's trust, the young man was left in charge of Weber's bag, which contained a laptop, a DSLR camera, and other essential items, while Weber went to an ATM booth.
Upon returning, Weber discovered that both the young man and his bag were missing, leading him to search the station in distress. Fellow passengers directed him to Natore Sadar Police Station, where police, after gathering necessary information, began their investigation. They reviewed CCTV footage and identified the suspect, though the lack of a trackable device complicated the search.
Police later recorded a general diary regarding the incident and sent Weber to the Rajshahi railway police authorities. He returned to Dhaka the following day.
