Dhaka:Amir Khasru, a veteran reporter for Voice of America (VOA), passed away in Dhaka after battling health complications. His death comes shortly after the passing of TIK of BDNews24, who died in London. Both losses have left their friends and colleagues mourning.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Khasru's career began in 1984 with the launch of Dhaka Courier, where he made a name for himself as a determined reporter. His unique style even earned him the nickname "the hungry reporter" due to his habit of flattening and eating burgers during visits to the office.

Khasru was known for his distinctive laughter, which he often used effectively during interviews to unsettle interviewees and elicit more genuine responses. His career was marked by a dedication to uncovering stories and breaking news, particularly during his time with VOA, where he reached the pinnacle of his profession.

In addition to his journalism career, Khasru had a background in hard-left politics, which he remained committed to throughout his life despite challenges. He often expressed his political ideologies, maintaining a critical stance towards the Awami League (AL).

As time passed, Khasru and his colleagues met less frequently, relying on social media to stay in touch. His recent illness went unnoticed by many, and his passing has been a poignant reminder of his contributions and enduring spirit.
