Accra:A meeting of the ruling BNP's parliamentary party, chaired by Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, began on Sunday evening at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting started at 620 pm in the ruling party members' room. It was organized in anticipation of the next parliamentary session, for which the date has not yet been finalized.
The meeting was convened by Tarique Rahman, who is also the Leader of the House, to discuss maintaining party discipline, the law-and-order situation, potential constitutional amendments, and the upcoming local government elections. Party sources indicated these were the main topics on the agenda.
Traditionally, parliamentary party meetings are held one or two days before a session starts or during the session itself. This meeting, however, took place before the session date was set, with expectations that the next session may commence in the second week of November.
