Hanoi:Portugal's Football Federation has suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and launched disciplinary proceedings against the forward for leaving the national team camp during the international break.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the federation announced that the case has been forwarded to its disciplinary investigation committee, with the findings to remain confidential until the investigation is concluded.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo departed following a disagreement with new coach Jorge Jesus regarding limited playing time. During the international break, Portugal won all three matches without Ronaldo on the field. Gonçalo Ramos, his replacement, capitalized on the opportunity by scoring three goals.

Ronaldo later addressed his Instagram followers, urging Jesus to admit to a mistake involving his warm-up before a match against Norway. Ronaldo claimed that Jesus asked him to warm up but did not play him. Jesus has not acknowledged any error.

Ronaldo anticipates a suspension under federation rules but assured his fans that there would be one or more farewell matches.
