Jhenaidah:A Bangladeshi youth was reportedly injured by gunfire from India's Border Security Force (BSF) along the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident involved Ujjal Hossain, a 30-year-old resident of Mailbaria Paschimpara village in Maheshpur upazila. Locals and border sources indicated that Ujjal was allegedly attempting to cross into India illegally when BSF personnel from the Pakhuria camp in India's Nadia district opened fire at him.

Sources reported that Ujjal sustained a bullet injury, believed to be from a rubber bullet. He was quickly rescued by relatives and friends, who took him away from the border area for secretive medical treatment.

Deputy Commander Munshi Imdadur Rahman of the BGB-58 Battalion in Maheshpur stated that a special Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team was dispatched to Ujjal's home for investigation, but family members denied any firing incident. BGB surveillance and inquiries are ongoing to determine the events along the border and to confirm if there were any injuries.
